The Barcelona Teatre Musical (BTM), the former Palau dels Esports, was built in 1995 to host the second Mediterranean Games.

It was re-modelled in 2001 and definitively configured as a facility dedicated to large format theatre. The Barcelona Teatre Musical is a large capacity facility with infinite possibilities to make any event a spectacular event. Because of its convenience and excellent acoustics, it is one of the national facilities where the most theatre and musical presentations are held, such as the successful Mamma Mia musical by Catherine Johnson.
